Comment by Marianna Galea Xuereb on July 28, 2012 at 7:31am I am sure looking forward to the opening of this nationa aquarium ... and I hope that entrance will be free to senior citizens, children and the unemployed and affordably, reasonably priced to others. I think that several of our cultural attractions and museum entrance fees tend to be overpriced.

Comment by Marianna Galea Xuereb on July 26, 2012 at 11:33am Yes, but unfortunately it takes a lot of money to instal CCTV cameras and employ watch people practically everywhere. I think one of the major problems with Maltese society during these past 30-40 years has been the ever increasing over-tolerance to practically all forms of crime, vandalism, perversities etc. Legal deterrents are practically a joke and moreover, even people who have been proved beyond any shadow of doubt not to merit total freedom (be it because of a crime record and/or serious mental problems, fraud, substance addiction, abuse etc) are given umpteenth "second" chances to "redeem" themselves. So many people promote rights, freedom of expression/ movement etc. …. hardly anyone calls for each and every individual to be held accountable for his/her own actions. Even our basic education system has become over-permissive to the point of obscenity. The way things are going, I would not be surprised if lawyers will eventually start defending graffiti vandalism on the basis that graffiti is a form of art and quote artistic freedom articles in our legislation in order to get their clients to go Scott free!
I think that a lot of people do not understand the value of this places and the historical value of them. I think that this places should be guarded 24/7 and anyone catch do such a thing shall remove it him self.
Comment by Christopher Galea on July 22, 2012 at 10:37pm Its a shame for those who made it. It surely does not make a good impression to tourists. Some people do not understant how much money you need for restoration and also to maintain places like these.
Comment by Stephanie Mifsud on July 20, 2012 at 9:39am Do anyone think that such thing would help our tourism industry? There are still people who do not know what such important buildings really mean to several Maltese citizens and also foreigners.

The problem with the Sustainable topic is that nowadays people know the price of everything but the value of nothing...
