Arriva and Local Tourism

Here we can discuss the effects Arriva has left on Tourism. Is the service better? Are the bus fares fair?  Did Malta lose it's identity with the introduction of Arriva?

Seems that Arriva is losing control in many aspects to the detriment of us locals and the tourists...

An article relating to what Marianna Galea Xuereb mentioned in her previous post concerning the accident rate of Arriva Busses:

Thank God most of Arriva's bus drivers are not as ruthless and irresponsible as the one reported in the Times report you just cited, Michael Andrew! With all its many faults Arriva Malta have several good people in the company. But alas, the top management team seem to be a total disaster, maintenace  of the busses  leaves a lot to be desired and the official bus schedules are merely wishful thinking and have absolutely nothing in common with what actually happens.

One cannot have an efficient and functional bus service without complementary functional and adequately sized bus shelters at every bus stop. Bus shelters should be designed according to the particular space limitations, particular conditions and number of people that are expected to use them at each particular location. The horrible, transparent, one-size-fits-all monstrosities that seem to have become so popular with Maltese authorities are nothing but an exercise in sheer waste, public money squandering and crass irresponsibility. Our authorities spent a lot of money educating the general public about the dangers of excessive sun exposure. It is so ironic that the same authorities keep financing (at taxpayer’s expense) the installation of “bus shelters” that do not offer any protection whatsoever from the scorching sun.
When one considers the lack of adequate bus shelters, the totally unsuitable busses and the Arriva Management in the Maltese Islands, one will forgive the general public for becoming convinced that Arriva and Transport Malta exist only to protect the business interests of local private car importers!
